Get involved
There are lots of ways to help us with our mission to improve the lives of both wild cockatoos and their cousins in human care. You can help us directly by "adopting" one of our ambassador toos or by downloading and distributing our guide on parrots for local animal shelters. You can also help cockatoos by helping a reputable sanctuary, zoo, or NGO.
The animal shelter guide to parrotsMost animal shelters do not have the experience of facility to deal with cockatoos and large parrots when they arrive. This free guide is a step by step manual to help the shelter provide humane care for the bird.

adopt a cockatooYou can symbolically adopt one of our resident cockatoos. You will receive a certificate of adoption in the mail and monthly e-mailed updates on your "adopted bird-child."

Sanctuaries & Rescues
Cockatoos are one of the most abandoned pet birds. Cockatoos as babies are little fluff balls full of love but when they grow up they can become screaming maniacs who quickly find themselves homeless.
|
Zoological Facilities
Zoos, aviaries, and preserves play a vital role in education the public about the plight of cockatoos. They also maintain breeding programs for endangered species that are not found in the pet trade.
|
NGOs
Non-government organizations play a major role in helping governments stop poaching, rehabilitating cockatoos to return the wild, and educating people about saving cockatoos.
